Mahabalipuram
Mahabalipuram, a one-and-a-half-hour journey from Chennai, includes
historic temples and stunning monuments with rock carvings depicting
Mahabharata's dramatic scenes. You can stop along the road at Dakhinachitra, a
museum that has restored 18 authentic ancient houses from the four states of
South India. However, if you want to truly unwind, two days at the beach eating
fresh seafood (from any of the beachfront eateries) and soaking up the sun
should enough. At the Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay, check in. The resort
has a 27,000-square-foot outdoor pool with breathtaking views of the Bay of
Bengal, and adrenaline junkies may sign up for ATV rides, boat adventures,
scuba diving, canoeing, and more.
Pondicherry
Just 2 hours from Chennai, the scenic streets of White Town are great
for GRAMS. The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a shelter for individuals in search of
peace and tranquilly. Did you know that Puducherry has some of the world's best
restaurants, serving delectable French, Tamil, and Creole cuisine? On Baker Street,
you may start your day with some of the best croissants outside of Paris. Cafe
des Arts is a great place to go for crepes and a shot of espresso. Make a lunch
reservation at Villa Shanti (the place fills up pretty fast). In addition to
excellent Indian and French food, you'll find unique delicacies like Shrikhand
and candied Eggplant dessert. You can view the sunset from any of the rooftop
eateries.
Madumalai National Park
Madumalai National Park, located in the
verdant Nilgiris highlands and 11 hours from Chennai, is home to tigers,
leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and bison. You can go on a jungle safari or
ride an elephant through the park. For the whole camping experience, stay at
the adjacent Jungle Hut Resort. Bird viewing is possible, and the hotel will
gladly arrange a visit to one of the neighbouring tea farms.
Tuticorin
Drive south to
Tuticorin, where you'll find Aqua Outback, to get away from the rush and bustle
of city life. Kitesurfing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, kayaking, snorkelling,
and fishing are all available at this hidden gem. And if that wasn't enough,
just go out of your room to enjoy the breathtaking limitless blue view
Karaikudi
Karaikudi is one of the 70 villages that make up
the Chettinad region. You can spend your weekend looking for antiques, vintage
furnishings, hand-made tiles, Kandaghi cotton saris, and eating delicious local
cuisine. The affluent Nattu Kottai Chettiars used to live in the area, and
their opulent residences have since been converted into luxury heritage hotels.
The Bangala is a great place to stay. It's a Chettinad-style family enterprise
that hasn't lost its appeal. In addition, the food is excellent. On banana
leaves, all meals are served communally. If you want to learn how to make such

Yercaud
After a 6-hour travel from Chennai, you can finally
wear that bulky sweater. It's the ideal spot for curling up with a book or
doing nothing at all. But if you're the type that can't sit still, there's
plenty to keep you occupied. You may hike to Lady's Seat, which overlooks the
twisting ghat road and provides magnificent views of the Metteur Dam and
adjacent Salem town.Grange Resort offers bungee jumping, zip line experiences,

Tanjore
Take
a journey to Tanjore, which is around a 6-hour drive from Chennai, to see its
gorgeous temples. Like the UNESCO-listed Brihadeeswarar temple, which is famed
for its elaborate gopurams, unique frescos, and Chola style frescoes. You can
also go to the Veena makers', Chola sculptors', and sari weavers' workshops.
Artists creating Tanjore paintings at their stores can be found on South
Street. Svatme, a luxurious heritage resort, is where you should check in.
Regular Carnatic music concerts, Bharatnatyam dance performances, and Vedic
Chanting sessions are held at the hotel. You can also learn how to cook with a
culinary class that explores Thanjavur's Tamil-Maratha cuisine.
