According to official sources on Thursday, April 21, the
Omicron variety of coronavirus and its subtypes are driving the spike in Delhi.
BA.2.12.1 and eight more Omicron subtypes have been found in samples. After
researching genomic sequencing of samples, the conclusions were reached.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the BA.2
strain of Omicron is more transmissible than the BA.1 strain. It was not,
however, cause for concern because it was no more severe than the original
strain, according to the report. The World Health Organization has put five
Omicron subtypes on its watch list so far: BA.1, BA.1.1, BA.2, BA.4, and BA.5.
The number of daily Covid-19 instances in Delhi is gradually increasing. On
Wednesday, 1,009 new cases were reported, the most since February 10. A 5.7
percent case positive rate was recorded. On Wednesday, one death was reported,
although there were 2,641 active cases.
